New Kia Carens gets new range-topper – the Carens 3 Sat Nav
But it seems Kia’s customers are shouting out for something that offers more standard equipment than the regular, not very inventive, trim levels of 1, 2 and 3, so Kia has decided to add a fourth option – the Kia Carens 3 Sat Nav to the range. The Carens 3 already comes with a decent enough spec – including panoramic roof, 17″ alloys, leather, heated seats, second row sun blinds and colour reversing camera – but the 3 Sat Nav adds a 7″ touchscreen SatNav and new audio system with 8-channel amp and sub woofer offering a better sound experience for all occupants. The Carens 3 Sat Nav is only available with Kia’s 134bhp 1.7 litre CRDI with 6-speed manual ‘box and costs from £24,845.

It looks like Honda is making a return to the Kei car with the arrival of the Honda S660 Concept ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show next month. The Kei class of car in Japan is small (less than 3.4 metres long) and comes with a raft of tax breaks for buyers, but despite it being designed just for Japan it’s gained a cult following round the world, and now the Honda Beat for the 21st century has arrived in the form of the S660 concept. The S660 Concept – it gets the required maximum 660cc Kei engine limit – is a mid-engined open top roadster that manages to deliver 64bhp from its 3-cylinder engine which, with a weight under 900kg, should be reasonably lively.
THE LEAST WELL-OFF families are slipping further into "transport poverty", according to an RAC Foundation survey. The poorest car-owning households spent at least 31% of their disposable incomes on buying and running a vehicle in 2012, the foundation said, up from 27% the year before. The figures, based on data obtained from the Office for National Statistics, showed that in 2012 the poorest families had a maximum weekly expenditure of £167, of which £51.40 went on a car.
